Highlights Week of September 9th

I have had requests for weekly highlights of the fun things I find. I will try and post links and articles I found interesting.

I loved this article from the guys point of view about keeping in touch with their moms. LINK

The quotes on the link were hilarious.

“After watching my mother and one of her friends write their way around the mommy-blogging circuit, I had a realization: mothers are under the misapprehension that there is some reason that their grown sons are not communicating with them.

Rest assured, we’re typically not keeping anything particularly important from you.

After all, a significant portion of my day is usually spent texting dumb jokes to my friends, planning the optimal time to go to Chipotle, and staring at walls.

I was hoping to clear up some things for all of you mothers of grown sons out there, so you don’t have to bug your sons about them. Bros, you’re welcome – this should buy you at least a few minutes of extra staring at the wall time.”

I love this shirt that supports childhood cancer. Go Gold! LINK

A few of my favorite Harvey moments.

  1. Coca-Cola let guys break into their location to “steal” water. LINK
  2. The Harvey album “Making the best of a bad situation”. LINK
  3. Donate to the Houston Flood Relief Fund (J.J. Watt’s fund) here. LINK

Dog Days

We all love our pets. From the common dog to the exotic iguana, we hate to leave our pet home alone. The Kolb Corner has a great free pet sitter printable.  It is the perfect thing to leave with your pet sitter so they know if your baby is on medicine, has a microchip, where their vet is and any other special needs that might occur. Some other thoughts on your inside/outside pets – Do people in your neighborhood know who your dog belongs to? If your dog got lost does it have a collar with your current phone number? Do you have a recent picture of your pet to post if it got away from you?  Always good things to think about. Enjoy this printable from Kolb Corner.

Military Heroes

So our friend posted this on Facebook. Her neighborhood put red, white and blue balloons on mailboxes of current and former military personnel in their neighborhood. What an easy way to show your appreciation and support.

If you can’t read the tiny type, it says “Someone in our little area of the neighborhood is so incredibly thoughtful! She has decorated our local veterans’ mailboxes. I am surprised by how you, balloon gifted, for honoring them this way.”

Pumpkin Prayers

I love this idea from the Secret Keeper Girl. They took a leftover pumpkin and ask every family member whatever they are thankful for each night. Seems like a nice way to include everyone without too much effort and it looks pretty and festive. This was on their Facebook page, but you can visit their site here.
